Hello my lovely little sugar covered cupcake tarantulas! Want to know what really irritates me? When people call cast members overrated. It's just the fact that each character is a stereotype-an form of overration (is that a word?) and that each character could be technically called overrated because of that fact. This is especially true for my long time favorite Courtney.
It burns my coconuts when I see someone calling Courtney overrated. You don't like her? Fine, that's your opinion. You can choose to like whoever you do or don't want too. But it makes you look like an idiot to call her overrated when each character is! It's how it was meant to be! Yes Courtney is overrated but so is every character because of each stereotype. People call Eva there favorite I could just as easily say Eva is overrated. They'd probably respond with 'well she's not a popular character.' Well that doesn't really matter because Eva's concept comes for a stereotype. Do you know how many times I go and read stories about female bullies picking on the innocent? Do you know that no matter whether or not people like the character, they are still used because people like the concept of it? Therefore, she's overrated.
Your argument is invalid.
There are a lot of reasons why Courtney is my favorite. A lot! And I know that she is pretty popular in the fan base whether they love Courtney or they love to hate on her. But has anyone ever wondered that maybe there is an actual reason that so many people like her? I know crazy right because usually when 90% of the fan base love a character, they've got no reason other than she's overrated. How does that even make sense?!? It doesn't. But I know that some of you will remain stubborn and not see it how it really is. Just a reminder though-just because you think that stop sign is blue, it's still red. Just because you think there's no reason to like Courtney, doesn't mean there isn't. And here are ten reasons why the fan base loves her so much.
1. She's an Anti-hero.
Ah...Anti-heroes. As a writer myself, I love to write about them. Giving characters a dark side, making them so flawed but yet still good in a sense, it's just invigorating. Who in their right mind likes a goody-goody? Which brings me to my next reason.
2. Courtney is a faux goody-goody.
Courtney pretends she does no wrong. Also, she likes rules. However Courtney has no problem breaking those rules and those standards of being a goody-goody when it suits her. I love paradox's and maybe it's annoying to some, but I find it amusing.
3. Her main love interest is the anti-villain.
Ever wondered why I love Duncan and Courtney so much? Because they are so alike and yet so different. Courtney is an anti-hero, a person with an overall good or not necessarily bad goal in mind but uses underhanded means to get it. Duncan is an anti-villain, a character with an evil intention or bad goal in mind but generally has a sense or morals. They make up for each others weaknesses while having the most interesting and entertaining relationship. Who else has seen an anti-hero and anti-villain date?
Rule: Some of you are going to argue that Courtney and Duncan have the same goal in mind which makes them both either an anti-villain or anti-hero. But here is how this is different. While the goal remains neutral in itself depending on how they use the money (which there's not really much clarification on) their ways of going after it are different. Courtney considers herself a hero despite her loathing of the teamwork and friendship. She uses any means possible to achieve her ends. Duncan not only considers himself a villain but loves being one. Yet he has morals and actually does good things. That is how they are respectfully an anti-hero and anti-villain.
4. Courtney is a total bad-ass.
Can you honestly say that whenever you watch a movie or read a book or play a video game or whatever it is that you don't like a character that is totally BA? Is you say you haven't, you are a total liar. Whether you consider this person good or bad, you always end up loving a character who can kick some butt. Just admit it. Courtney has been shown on multiple occasions to be a total bad-ass. Want some evidence? Watch last episode of first season, any episode Courtney is in in the second season, throughout the third season and fifth season. Courtney will show several instances where she is totally kick-ass whether by brains, martial arts, or leadership.
5. Determination
This is something Courtney exceeds in. I think more than Courtney's kung fo, leadership skills, or brains, it's Courtney's determination that makes her so likable. I think it's something we all admire in a person to any extent. While many people hate characters who have such a powerful strength, Courtney's other weaknesses tone it down.
6. She is not a mary-sue.
You obviously have no idea what a Mary-sue is, if you think Courtney is one. No matter what kind you think she may be (and trust me there are plenty different kinds of Mary-sues) Courtney doesn't fit the criteria because she's flawed, people still hate her for it, and she still has people who like her. She's not superhuman (though fighting three sharks is a little over the top remember this is a cartoon) she's definitely not perfect and she does a lot of shitty things. Courtney could be a mary-sue if there was one thing about her different but she has a perfect balance too me and that is what makes me like her.
7. She is underrated.
This is a total hypocrite moment on my part and I know that but just listen. I mean this is a way of nobody on the show likes Courtney. Honestly, if I knew a Courtney in real life I'd probably hate her. That makes her underrated while in the show which makes her popular with fans. And that's really all there is too it.
8. She's human.
I think we can all admit that Courtney is pretty freaking tough. But she's also human. She cries over breakups, she's selfish, and she makes mistakes. Someone we can relate too and a relatable character is always a favorable character.
9. She is a victim of circumstances and her own hypocrisy
If I went and told you right now that Courtney was only bad because of all of the bad things she had to deal with on the show, I'd be a total liar. Because Courtney gets herself into a lot of trouble without being a victim of circumstances. Can we blame some of it on circumstances? Yes. Is some of it Courtney's own fault? Also yes. We can both sympathize and laugh at her.
10. She's a winner.
And who doesn't love a winner?
Cameron realizes I'm right and thinks you all should too.

All-stars, All-stars, we all love all-stars!
I just started (and finished) watching the first five episodes of Total Drama all-stars. I know, you're all probably wondering why I just started watching them now. Well, I hate waiting for new episodes! Especially when there are only one or two episodes to re-watch. But I'm really loving the new season. I love the Courtney-Scott angle and the Courtney-Gwen angle. Though I seriously would gag myself with a spoon if Courtney did not end up with Duncan, I think Scott is good for making Duncan jealous. I mean, Gwen has already broken up with him because he focuses too much on Courtney. Is that a hint or is that a hint?
A good love triangle is always interesting as well. Does anyone else think that despite Scott's tough outer attitude, he's a total sub at heart? If you don't know what that means you are too young to be reading this blog, sorry.
But anyway, I am also liking other aspects as well. The 'Malevolent' one being one of my other favorites. My total drama crush had always been Duncan or Alejandro but I'm kinda digging the Malevolent one. Shh...don't tell the others. Zoey annoys me as much as before-since when did she get athletic? Sierra is still awesome and it's hilarious to watch her downward spiral without her Cody-kins. Cameron being a villain is going to be so interesting too-he'll definitely be eaten alive. He thinks bears are scary? Maybe he should spend a night in the same vicinity as Courtney, Heather, Alejandro, and Scott. Then he'll know scary. I mean Courtney's wrestled sharks, Alejandro can walk on his hands for like ever and manipulate all girls besides maybe Heather, Heather's just plain nasty, and Scott well, Scott's just...Scott. Overall they are all kinda evil and poor Cameron does not stand a chance. He'll probably try to play nice or cure everyone of their wicked way-it won't work. Besides convincing Courtney she's evil would be a challenge all of itself-she's always right don't you know that?
My favorite episode in the season so far was actually the fifth episode-a lot happened in that episode and there was more drama than in the past ones-which were still good but focused more on challenges that the actual humorous relationships these teens form. I'm kinda sad my prediction on the old members teaming up on the new members hasn't happened, I would've really liked to see that. But I am still holding to the fact that this is Courtney's season. IT IS! And if Duncan wants to get off his ass and apologize, than maybe he can get another million under his belt too. As long as Courtney decides where he gets to spend it of course.
